PROJECT OVERVIEW

Abacus Contractors Design Services engaged to provide temporary works design for excavation support on the redevelopment of 87–95 Hertford Road, known locally as the ‘Boris Building’.

Working alongside JMS Engineers, who are leading the structural design, our role focused on enabling safe and compliant basement construction beneath the existing structure.

We delivered a tailored temporary works scheme to support secant piled retaining walls during full basement excavation, ensuring stability in challenging ground conditions with minimal de-watering requirements. Our designs were coordinated with the permanent reinforced concrete substructure, allowing works to progress without disruption.

Abacus CDS’s support played a key role in ensuring excavation safety and structural integrity throughout this complex heritage redevelopment.
