Oasis Academy

Abacus Contractors Design Services provided specialist façade engineering for Oasis Academy in Bristol, focusing on the structural design of the building’s external signage and cladding supports. Our team was responsible for ensuring these secondary elements could withstand environmental pressures while safely supporting the building's architectural features.

We engineered a custom 2700mm aluminium signage pattress, using finite element modelling to confirm the panel could support a 28kg signage load without excessive bending or stress. This involved precise calculations of wind suction and weight to guarantee a secure fixing for the Academy’s branding.

Additionally, we designed the support framework for the Vieo cladding system. This included the structural validation of the Rocbar and top hat subframes, along with specifying high-strength EJOT stainless steel fasteners to secure the entire assembly to the building’s main frame. By delivering these detailed specifications, we ensured the academy's exterior met all safety and performance standards.
